There's no shortage of Ford fans in the North Tonawanda and Grand Island area. However, the Ford brand appears to be undergoing some exciting changes. The brand new Ford F150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E are making waves throughout the greater Lockport area. But this is only the beginning of Ford's EV investments.

Ford Motors has chosen to split its company into two separate divisions. Ford Blue will be the division of internal combustion engine vehicles, whereas the Ford EV division will be dedicated to the development and sale of Ford electric vehicles. Green technology is experiencing a surge in popularity and if the company doesn't adapt to the times, the Blue Oval will be left behind. Find out more about what Ford Model E is, as well as what's in store for the future of Ford electric cars, trucks, and SUVs with the experts at Basil Ford of Niagara Falls below!

The Latest Ford EV Investments

The Blue Oval is sparing no expense in laying down the framework for its new Ford EV division. Ford plans to have three new battery plants and a brand-new assembly plant for Ford electric trucks up and running in the United States by 2025. $17.4 billion will be poured into the construction of two battery plants in Kentucky and a third station, referred to as Blue Oval City, being built in Stanton, Tennessee.

What is the Difference Between Ford Model E and Blue?

So, what exactly is Ford Model E, and how does it differ from the more traditional Ford Blue division of the company? Ford Model E and Ford Blue will run as distinct business units. However, both branches of the company will support each other, and utilize the Ford Pro system. Ford Pro is a software suite of tools that link Ford electric, gas, and diesel vehicles together to manage entire fleets at once to save both time and money.

The Ford EV Division promises to:

  • Further develop the capabilities of EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, and charging/recycling systems.
  • Embrace a wholesale reimagining of vehicle design, which will include high-volume production of Ford electric cars, trucks, & SUVs. This new fleet of clean vehicles will be accessible for commercial and retail purposes.
  • Attract and retain the very best engineering, software, design, and UX talent to invent new concepts and technologies that can be applied across the Ford Blue & Model E divisions.

In contrast, Ford Blue offers the following perks and automotive proficiency to Lockport drivers and beyond:

  • Provide drivers with new, connected, personalized, and streamlined experiences thanks to Ford Model E's embedded systems and software
  • Assist customers throughout their daily lives with personalized brand and vehicle experiences. Whether you're running errands around Lockport or trying to get the best off-roading performance, our Ford Pro program will help you accomplish all of your automotive goals.
  • Offer stronger performance specs for classic Ford vehicles, such as Maverick, Ranger, and F-Series trucks, Explorer and Bronco SUVs, and the Mustang.
